My Story

I’m a London based Fine Artist making drawings, paintings and prints. Alongside this I’ve also run a successful design business selling cards and homewares, made numerous art commissions, been a design consultant both in the UK and abroad, and written a bestselling book titled House of Cards. In 2015 I founded the JUST A CARD campaign to encourage people to support independents, and often appear as a speaker championing artists, makers and small businesses at events and in the press.

I knew I wanted to be an artist at an early age, when no phone book, newspaper or shopping list escaped my enthusiastic scribbles. Drawing is still an integral part of my art practice, but I’ve upgraded to sketchbooks, much to my family’s delight.

The best of my schooldays were spent in USA and South Africa, which still has a big influence on my life and work; as do the years I spent at Manchester, Camberwell and Central St Martin’s studying BA and MA Fine Art (Printmaking). Back to life and the post-college reality of how to make a living as an artist struck home. Armed only with determination and a hand-built silkscreen press, I began my career printing greeting cards on my kitchen table.

They were an instant hit. I soon relocated to a ‘proper’ studio, and expanded into making stationery and homeware ranges, which sold through retailers including Heal’s, Paperchase, The Conran Shop and Designers Guild, alongside many beautiful independent shops and galleries.

My work has been featured in magazines, press and design books and I am delighted to continue my Fine Art practice from my South London studio.
